Chace v. Seneca et al is back on

A lawsuit against Seneca that was removed from the Common Pleas docket a year ago is now back on. A filing in the Oconee Clerk of Court’s Office shows that the case of Leonard and Julie Chace versus City of Seneca, City of Seneca Board of Zoning Appeals, and Edward Halbig is restored and is to receive an electronic signature to that effect from 10th Judge Scott Sprouse of Walhalla. Chace v. Seneca is a 2017 appeal by the Chaces of a city regulatory board decision that found the couple in violation of the city’s rules on short-term house rentals. That appeal was later withdrawn to allow for negotiation settlements while the city went to work on a new short-term rental ordinance. That work culminated last month when the city council approved a new law. On the night of September 24, there was mixed reaction from the audience at City Hall upon the vote to adopt the short term rental law, with the CEO of the state realtors warning the city leaders to expect legal challenges.
