Century Farm designation

The South Carolina Century Farms Program, administered by the Pendleton District Commission, announces that the Thrailkill Family Farm in Chester County has been designated a South Carolina Century Farm. The farm was purchased by the family in 1909, and has been continuously owned by the family since then. The farm is currently owned by C. Earl and Elizabeth Thrailkill of Fort Lawn. The program was created to honor families who have owned and farmed the same land for at least 100 years. The program was created in 1974 for Oconee, Anderson and Pickens counties. Two years later, it was expanded into a statewide program. More than 350 properties have been designed Century Farms.
