Lavonia, Georgia – William Cecil Wilson,72, husband of Gwendolyn “Gwen” Sheriff Wilson, passed away on Monday, May 6th, 2024 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 3rd,1952, in Lavonia, Georgia, Cecil was the son of the late Jessie “JJ” and Eva Whiten Wilson. Cecil was a retired plant manager of thirty-one years of service from the Metromont Precast of Greenville, a member of East Georgia Fox Hunters Association, a member of Madison Baptist Church. Cecil was known as an avid fox and coyote hunter, a judge of many hunts, and had a great passion of sharing his love of hunting with his family.
Cecil is survived by his beloved wife, Gwen Sheriff Wilson; children, Justin Wilson of Lavonia, Georgia; Jason Wilson (Anna Clark) of Bowman, Georgia; Cegi Wilson Forston (Sam) of Lavonia, Georgia; step-son, Darren Carter (Tara) of Walhalla, South Carolina; brothers, Ted Wilson of Lavonia, Ray Wilson of Elberton; sister, Alma Norris of Lavonia; grandchildren, Logan Wilson, Jesse Wilson, Grace Wilson, Paige Wilson, Eva Peeler, Jasper Peeler, Kason Fortson, Cohen Fortson, Aiden Fortson, Samantha Sweetnam, Kaiden Sweetnam (Marlee), Cheyenna Carter, Kaylee Carter, Nicole Stroud ( Brandon) Casey Carter (Alexus); great grandchildren, Clarke Sweetnam, Xaiver Carter, Heavenly Carter, Kaden Stroud, Jameson Stroud, and Elijah Stroud; and several nieces, nephews and beloved family members he leaves behind.
Cecil is preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn Wilson, Jessie Wilson Jr., Butch Wilson; and a step-daughter, Hope Carter.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, May 9th, 2024 at Franklin Memorial Gardens with the Reverand Jamie Harvey and Rev. Logan Wilson officiating. A reception will follow at “The Shed” at Papa’s Creek.
