Catherine Martin Breazeale

Westminster– Catherine Martin Breazeale, 91, loving wife of the late Dean Ponder Breazeale, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Brushy Creek Post Acute, Greer, SC.

 

Born in Summerton, SC, Catherine was the daughter of the late Norman Martin and Helen Canty Martin.  Catherine was a passionate and dedicated educator who started her teaching career at Veterans School.  Catherine later shared her love of teaching at College Street School and then she completed her teaching career at Westminster Middle School where she taught 6 grade students.  Catherine was a loyal and dedicated member of Westminster Baptist Church where she was an active member in the Agnes Morgan Sunday School Class.  Catherine enjoyed walking and working at Dot’s kitchen.  Catherine definitely had a servant’s heart and enjoyed fellowshipping and providing words of encouragement and support for her community and her family.

 

Catherine is survived by son, Jim Breazeale (Susan); daughters, Deanna B. Grinstead (late Daryl) and Jan Clamp (Neal); grandchildren, Deven G. Stapleton (Derek), Katie G. DeSerio (Michael), Lindsay G. Blackburn (Brian), Rhett Grinstead (Aubrey), Callie B. Long (Stan), Jon Ryan Breazeale, O’Neal Clamp III (Rachel); great grandchildren, Libby Stapleton, Shepard Stapleton, Midgie Stapleton, Beckett DeSerio, Jameson DeSerio, Griffin DeSerio, Talullah DeSerio, Amelia Blackburn, Sully Grinstead, Tate Long, Cammie Long, Mason Lee, Simon Clamp; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Littrell.

 

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Catherine is preceded in death by brothers, Bill Joe Martin, Charles Martin, Bobby Martin, Sammy Martin, Jack Martin and Dickie Martin; sisters, Mary “Tid” Davis and Helen “Miggie” Rice. Catherine was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

 

 

A private family service was held and Catherine was laid to rest at East View Cemetery, Westminster, SC, next to her beloved husband.  A virtual service for friends and family will be available on Saturday afternoon, January 1, 2022 on the Sandifer Funeral Home Facebook Page.
