State troopers report an accident involves injuries this afternoon in Oconee County, where S.C. 11 crosses Blackjack Road. The accident was reported at 12:26 p.m. No other details have been confirmed by 96.3/WGOG NEWS.

Oconee Coroner Karl Addis says the victim of the early morning car accident near Salem was Jerry Lee Rowland, 54, of Salem.  Rowland was found dead at the scene of the accident on the Mack Reid Road at the Haney Road.  Addis said he learned the accident was discovered by a Rowland relative.

The State Patrol reports a fatal traffic collision occurred this morning near Salem. The accident scene, shortly after 6 a.m., was the Whitewater Falls Road area, on Haney Road at Mack Reid Road. No other details immediately available.

Oconee County is in the market for new property. This time, according to Administrator Scott Moulder, the purpose is not a jail or an industrial park. It’s to buy extra property for the future expansion of the county’s Rock Quarry, a money-making enterprise of county government.
