The state reports improvement in the Oconee County job picture between July and August. The percentage of Oconeeans who were out of work but who are attempting to get back to work fell from 10.4% in July to 10% in August. Home fire near Clemson

Fire fighters yesterday were able to quickly stop a small fire in a clothes dryer in a home inside the Corinth-Shiloh Fire District. Chief Mike Zambito of the Corinth-Shiloh Volunteer Fire Department credited Seneca fire fighters with reaching the Nebo Church Road home first, followed shortly by volunteers from his station. No one was injured.

Seneca PD makes arrest

A 28-year old Pickens County man, released from jail in Georgia, is now being held in Oconee County to face charges in  drug cases as far back as 2001.
