Stolen truck investigation

Weekend crime in Westminster. The city police and the Oconee Sheriff’s Office are combining to determine who stole a city pick up truck. Dean Awalt, Westminster chief of police, said the truck has been recovered, and officers have taken a couple of statements designed to help solve who took the truck.

Strong wind overturns sailboat

A sailboat capsized in strong winds late yesterday afternoon on Lake Hartwell near Clemson. The lone male occupant of the sailboat was able to call for help from a cell phone and emergency responders fanned out on both sides of the lake in the vicinity of Clemson Marina. The sailor made it out of the water uninjured.

Fatal moped accident

A fatal accident near the Pickens County municipality of Easley. The Pickens County coroner, Kandy Kelley, says a 47-year old Easley resident, Gregory Alan Duncan, died in a moped accident at 7 o’clock Saturday night at Old Pond Road and Arial Street. According to Kelley, Duncan was not wearing a helmet.

Add kidnapping to the charges

The Walhalla police have now added kidnapping to the charges against two of the three individuals arrested in the homicide at 505 N. Laurel Street. Student arrested on marijuana charges

Campus police at Clemson came knocking to the door of a student’s residence hall room. And they arrested Anthony Joseph Rizzo. The charges allege that the 19-year old from Simpsonville possessed marijuana with intent to distribute and possessed marijuana with intent to distribute within proximity of a school. Rizzo was released Friday on a $10 thousand dollar personal recognizance bond. […]

An investigation involving sheriff’s officers in two counties has led officers to a Pickens man.
