Judge rules for the plaintiff

The Hon. Scott Sprouse, in his role this week as Oconee Common Pleas judge, ruled in favor of the plaintiff in a case alleging breach of contract. Sprouse’s ruling came in the case of Patricia Ford against John C. Pulliam. The judge directed Ford’s attorney to prepare for his signature an order spelling out details.

Swimmer in distress helped to shore

Everybody is OK after a distress call yesterday on the Georgia side of Lake Hartwell. According to the Stephens County Sheriff, one person aboard a boat somehow ended up in the water and needed help in making it back to the shore safely. It happened yesterday in the vicinity of Jenkins Ferry.

Two Anderson residents arrested after chase

Details are being made known about Tuesday’s chase on I-85 from Oconee County to Anderson County. The chase ended with the arrest of two Anderson residents. The body of a woman, fitting the description of a missing Mountain Rest woman, was found yesterday afternoon about two miles from her home near the Ross Mountain Road. Coroner Karl Addis said the preliminary scene investigation suggests that Mandy Nicole Brewer died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. An autopsy has been ordered.
