Some concrete was laid for Streetscape yesterday in spite of rain that accumulated to around one-half of an inch in Walhalla.  But the expectation of the contractor, Hutch ‘N Son, is the additional rain forecast in the next few days is likely to have the effect of shutting down most Streetscape work until after Christmas Day.

The threat of rain, along with the Christmas holiday Friday, has a firm grip on what can and cannot be accomplished this week in Walhalla’s Streetscape.  The hope today was to cross Main Street at Catherine with telephone conduit.  On hold, however, is the pouring of concrete at the same intersection on the north side.  

Oconee’s Lindsey Graham announced this morning he is dropping out of the race for President.  Graham, a U-S senator, had made national security the top plank of his bid, but could not break out of a second tier of Republican hopefuls for their party’s nomination next year.

Sheriff Mike Crenshaw says the case of a homicide last night near Westminster is not a threat to the community.  Crenshaw spoke of the shooting death of Jesse Eugene Mulkey, 33-year old Westminster resident, who Coroner Karl Addis says was shot around 10 last night at 330 Brock Road.  Mulkey died two hours later at a Greenville hospital.  Crenshaw told […]
