On average, the Oconee Regional Airport gets four to five inquiries a week about hangar space.  That comment last night by Jeff Garrison, the new airport director, led the aeronautics commissioners to push once again for more hangars.  Garrison and the commissioners, however, agree that will be expensive.  Grading for the last proposal was estimated at $500 thousand.

Repairs to a broken water line north of Walhalla were completed at 1 o’clock this morning. By late yesterday afternoon, the Seneca police reported 14 people arrested in their latest roundup of suspected drug law violators.  At the start of the sweep, narcotics officers had 39 warrants charging 28 people with a variety of offenses.

The break of an 8-inch water line near Walhalla prompted the utilities superintendent last night to order a boil water advisory to cover customers on the north side of the city limits.  The break occurred on South Carolina 11 near 183.  Scott Parris, utilities director, predicted that it would take several hours for repairs.  In the meantime, the advisory means […]

The Museum of the Cherokee in Walhalla will benefit from the grant from the DAR—the Daughters of the American Revolution.  The $8 thousand dollar grant was announced during an event this morning at the museum on Walhalla’s Short Street.
