Oconee to order new bookmbile

Although more expensive than first estimated, a new bookmobile will hit the roads of Oconee County within the year.  County Council last night approved paying Bookmobile Farber Specialty Vehicles of Columbus, Ohio $215 thousand dollars for a bookmobile that replaces the county libraries’ 1997 model with 96 thousand miles.

West Union mayor seeks re-election

The West Union mayor, Linda Oliver, would like to try it again.  Oliver yesterday signed up to run for mayor in her town’s April 5 election.  So far, she has no opposition.  With Friday’s qualifying deadline looming, West Union has only one candidate for its four council seats:  David Scealf.

Hendricks appointed interim administrator

Tom Hendricks is returning to Pickens County government as interim county administrator.  101.7/WGOG NEWS has learned that Hendricks was the choice last night of the Pickens County Council as interim county administrator.  A Liberty resident, Hendricks worked as county administrator in both Oconee and Pickens counties and is a former Oconee County Planning Commission executive director.
