Squirrel the culprit in Saturday power outage

Drowning caused Anderson woman’s death

An autopsy disclosed that drowning was the cause for the death Friday of an Anderson woman in Lake Keowee.  Barbara Lynn Malone was 62 years old.  Oconee Coroner Karl Addis said did not sustain any apparent medical issue that could be seen at autopsy to explain why she went unresponsive.  Her body was found in waist-deep water near the Keowee Sailing Club.  […]

Anderson woman victim in lake death

A 62-year old Anderson woman died at the GHS-Oconee Memorial Hospital yesterday afternoon after she was pulled from shallow water in Lake Keowee and found unresponsive.  She was Barbara Lynn Malone.  Coroner Karl Addis says an autopsy tomorrow will help determine whether a medical event caused Malone to go underwater.  She and two of her friends were wading in the […]

Sinkhole fixed!

The DOT has announced the re-opening of a section of Seneca’s N. Townville Street with the completion of sinkhole repairs.  The discovery of a sinkhole forced the closing of N. Townville between 3rd and 4th streets.

Lake side emergency this afternoon

Public safety responders pulled a swimmer from Lake Keowee this afternoon and started CPR before the woman was sent to the hospital.  There’s no confirmed word on her condition.  A responder told 101.7/WGOG NEWS the location was about four feet of water near the Keowee Sailing Club on SC 130 near Seneca.
