Some 1200 Oconee County customers of Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative remained without power early this afternoon. More than twice that number remain without power in Pickens County. The arrival of three co-op crews from downstate is anticipated Sunday afternoon. At 7 o’clock this morning, Walhalla had recorded 1.2″ of snow & sleet and 2.06″ of rain.

School District Associate Superintendent, Steve Hanvey says there will be no school Monday for students and teachers due to inclement weather and icy road conditions. 225-day + employees should report on a 2-hour delay, if they can make it safely.

The Winter weather has forced the closing of the Walhalla Library on Sunday.

As of 11 am Sunday, Blue Ridge Electric reported 2,000 Oconee County consumers were without power. Hardest hit areas are the northern sections of Oconee, Pickens and Greenville counties.
