Blue Ridge Electric Working to Restore Power

Some 1200 Oconee County customers of Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative remained without power early this afternoon. More than twice that number remain without power in Pickens County. The arrival of three co-op crews from downstate is anticipated Sunday afternoon. At 7 o’clock this morning, Walhalla had recorded 1.2″ of snow & sleet and 2.06″ of rain.

Winter Weather Causing Problems in Oconee

As of 11 am Sunday, Blue Ridge Electric reported 2,000 Oconee County consumers were without power. Hardest hit areas are the northern sections of Oconee, Pickens and Greenville counties. Approaching storm closes Jocassee roads

Roads within the Timmerman Natural Resources Area at Jocassee Gorges in northern Oconee and Pickens are closing today in advance of the approaching winter storm.
