CARRIE MAE WIMBERLEY MEARES

Westminster, SC — Carrie Mae Wimberley Meares, 75, wife of the late Virgil Wright Meares, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family.

 

A native of Franklin County, Alabama, Mrs. Meares was the daughter of the late George Russell Wimberley and Lona Edith Hyde Wimberley. She was a retired League Coordinator for the Oconee Lanes. Mrs. Meares was a member of the Oconee Women’s 600 Club, the USBC South Carolina Hall of Fame – Youth Achievement and had held League Officer Positions for many leagues for over forty years. She was of the Baptist faith.

 

Mrs. Meares is survived by her sons: Steve Clark of Alabama; Greg Meares of Seneca; sister: Mary Eloise Helms of Alabama; grandchildren: Carrington, Graham, Joseph, Haley, Andy, E.J., Meredith, Sarah and Trey; five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Meares was preceded in death by her daughter: Sharon Meares Miller; son: Kenneth Charles (KC) Meares; sisters: Elizabeth Jones, Hazel Webb, Berneice Wimberley; brothers: Virgil Wimberley, John (JP) Wimberley, Melvin Wimberley, and Russell Wimberley.

 

The memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 PM, on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Davenport Funeral Home Chapel.

 

The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM, on Saturday, November 26, 2022, prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home.
