Career Center programs garner state award

The Considerate Café’ and the Leaning to Grow Gardens at Oconee’s Hamilton Career Center were jointly-awarded the “Business of the Year” award by the South Carolina Council for Exceptional Children’s Division on Career Development and Transition. The award was presented in November during the Transition Alliance of South Carolina state conference. At that conference, students in the two career center programs explained what each enterprise does—selling homemade items from the garden and café. Also, representing Oconee public schools at the meeting were school trustee Sandra Sloan and Marge Bright, director of special education for the county district.
