Car taken in Oconee, found in Pickens

A car stolen from an Oconee County car dealership turned up in Pickens County where two people were apprehended after a chase that led the Easley police in the direction of Liberty. The chase occurred January 29 and was precipitated by an Easley police investigation of a possible burglary. According to the incident report, the police tried to stop a white Ford Explorer. The Ford Explorer, at one point, was estimated to be moving at speeds between 75 and 80 miles an hour. Eventually, the driver ditched the car and both he and a passenger bailed ran. Two Easley officers caught the pair. The police pursued charges against them. The police learned that the car was stolen in Oconee County. 101.7/WGOG NEWS has learned that the Ford Explorer was the personal vehicle of an Edwards Auto Sales employee and was taken while the employee was at work.
