Can electric power withstand the continued heat?

In last night’s air-conditioned meeting room, the thoughts of a Seneca councilman turned to the load that the city’s electric power system can withstand, in spite of day after day temperatures in the 90s.  Councilman Riley turned to Administrator Moulder and asked whether Seneca might be forced to enact brownouts — partial reductions in power that are sometimes planned by utility companies to prevent surges of blackouts when demand is high. According to Riley, Senecans of senior age are worried.  Moulder says the city Light and Water doesn’t envision the need for a brownout, and he further remarked that the rebuilding of the city system since the 2020 tornado should help withstand interruptions.
