Callas Mountain fire contained

 

The Callas Mountain Fire is considered contained, according to announcement this afternoon from the U-S Forest Service.  The cause remains under investigation. Estimated size: 134 acres. Smoke is visible from Highway 28. No evacuations were required. Yesterday, fire crews completed construction of containment lines and conducted burnout operations. This morning they patrolled and confirmed lines were secure. Overnight, the fire held within the containment lines and the interior is still consuming fuel with minimal smoke.Motorists should continue to watch for emergency vehicles in the area of Hwy 28 while they monitor and mop up for the next several days.
