Cain is new leader of statewide organization

101.7/WGOG NEWS has received confirmation that Oconee County’s Paul Cain is the new president of the South Carolina Association of Counties, having been elected by the membership during the annual meeting last weekend on Hilton Head Island.  Cain is the Seneca member of the Oconee County Council, serving District Three.  The statewide association is the one that represents county government in South Carolina and works to empower county officials through advocacy, education, and collaboration.  It maintains a full-time staff in Columbia and is governed by a 29-member board of directors.  Hilton Head is a favored spot for statewide conferences, but the hotel where the conferees stayed temporarily lost its air conditioning for part of the weekend.
