Businessman crime victim opens testimony

A Seneca area businessman, Robert Moon, testified first for the prosecution today in the case of South Carolina versus Michael Lee Trotter. Moon’s Universal Services business on the Shiloh Road was the victim of crime in November 2017, when someone stole a pair of utility trailers. According to prosecutor Jason Alderman, Trotter was arrested a few days later after a deputy went to the Trotter’s home to investigate a separate complaint of gun shots fired. Alderman’s opening statement to the Oconee General Sessions jury was followed by the opening statement from Trotter’s attorney, Wilson Burr. The defense lawyer said the utility trailers were stolen from the property of Universal Services, but his client did not take them. Burr further asserted that four charges that arose from the case were made because Trotter’s past criminal record made him an “easy target” for law enforcement.
