Building work to be designed for the next 30 years

Two meetings late last week have produced an agreement for a contract for the first major update to Oconee sewer buildings now approaching 40 years old. A recommendation carried forward from a Thursday meeting to a Friday meeting means that Hogan Construction will renovate both the administrative and operations building. The commissioners who set the policy for the Joint Regional Sewer Authority have set aside $1.5 million in their budget for the project. The design and other specifics, according to the JRSA’s Chris Eleazer, should become clear during the next six weeks, and there’s a possibility the work can start in November or December, though he won’t be surprised if it’s not after the New Year.
