Bryant Mansfield

Bryant was born in Milwaukee, WI, son of the M.J. and Inez Mansfield. He grew up in Elburn, Illinois. He was the editor of the Elburn Herald until he left for service in World War II. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps/Jasco unit, serving in the Philippines and on Okinawa. He married his high school sweetheart, Jean Leone Nelson, on October 6, 1944. Together, they raised five children in St. Charles, Illinois. He spent many years in the publishing business, until moving to Texas in 1976. He began home construction and, in his sixties, started B-J Industries, a sheet metal design and manufacturing business in Duncanville, Texas in 1976. He retired at the age of 82. After the passing of his wife in 1999, he eventually relocated to Salem, South Carolina, in 2010. He restored a log cabin in the woods where friends and family enjoyed many great times with him. Bryant was a man of many talents and shared his knowledge with his children and grandchildren. He was a proud American and upon his 100th birthday last year, received an award from President Donald Trump, for his service to his country. Bryant was a great family man, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean in 1999; his son, Jeff in 2006; and his infant great grandson, Isaac Matthew King in 2003. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters, Linda King Scheiner (Charles) of Texas; Jan Pinner (Paul), of Sugar Grove, Illinois; sons, David Mansfield (Mary) of Salem, South Carolina, Jim Mansfield of Salem, South Carolina; grandchildren, Chris King, Joe King, Nate Mansfield, Leslie Mansfield Wilson, Paul Pinner Jr., Scott Pinner, Steven Mansfield, Kristy Mansfield Guest; 21 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.

 

Interment will be at a later date at the Veterans National Cemetery, in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas.
