Bryant L. Metler

 

Seneca– Bryant L. Metler went to his heavenly home Wednesday, March 2, 2022.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary Frances Miles Metler in 2012.   He was a member of Seneca Baptist Church. Bryant is survived by his sons, David (Pam), Mark (Jenette) and Erich (Janine).  He was the proud Grandfather of eight grandchildren and Great-Grandfather of eleven!  Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Steve and special friend, Mary Jo Schmidt.

 

Born and raised in Knoxville, TN, he attended the University of Tennessee on an academic scholarship.   He graduated with honors with a B.S. in Accounting and Business Administration in 1957. He played baseball and was a member of Beta Alpha PSI Fraternity.

 

Bryant went to work for ALCOA upon his graduation.  He began his career in Evansville, IN, but, was transferred to Los Angeles, CA in 1961.  He was instrumental in the construction and development of Century City, a futuristic city-within-a-city, located in the center of Los Angeles on the old 20th Century Fox movie backlots.

 

In 1972, Bryant was hired by Realtec, Inc. to develop a lakeside retirement community in South Carolina on the shores of Lake Keowee.  This eventually resulted in the community we now know as Keowee Key.   His primary goal was to maintain as much of the natural charm of the area as possible with minimum impact on the environment.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 6th at Seneca Baptist Church, Seneca, SC.   The family will receive friends and family following the Memorial Service.
