Bryan Christian Burkhart

Lexington, SC – Bryan Christian Burkhart, 11, of Lexington, SC passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.

 

Born in Greenville, SC, Christian is the son of Lori Sue Burkhart of Lexington, SC and Chance Sanders of North Augusta, SC. Christian was an Honor Roll student at Deerfield Elementary School.

 

He was a member of The American Judo and Jujitsu Federation since 2016, where he was the 2021 recipient of the Professor John Cahill Award Outstanding Tournament Competitor of the Year.

 

He competed in three ATJA/AJJF National Championships winning three golds and three silver, four South Carolina State Championships attaining five golds and one silver. Christian competed in four Samurai Slam Tournaments, earning a total of five golds and two silvers. Christian was honored to be selected to train with National and International instructors at an invitation only Judo camp in Atlanta, GA.

 

In addition to his parents, Christian is survived by uncle Troy Burkhart; aunt Michelle Moore of Seneca; godparents Pam & Jay Grubbs of Anderson; and beloved black lab, Midnight.

Christian was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Warren Kenneth Burkhart and Carol Sue Bryan Burkhart and great-grandparents, Enoch William & Florence Rose Bryan.

 

Christian was a member of the Boy Scouts of America Pack 518, where he was a Pinewood Derby Winner.

 

He dedicated his life to the Lord on November 22, 2020 and was a member of Clemson First Baptist Church.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Monday, June 7, 2021, at Clemson First Baptist Church, 397 College Avenue, Clemson, SC, 29631 with burial to follow at Memory Gardens in Central.

 

The family will receive friends & family from 1:00-2:30 PM, Monday, prior to the service, at Clemson First Baptist Church.
