Bruce Cannon knew Dr. John as well as anyone

Bruce Cannon, a one-time Seneca mayor, knew Dr. John Martin as well as anyone, and Cannon Saturday will have a place among the speaker who will remember the late Seneca museum director. At 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, a few people will speak in honor of Martin during an event on the side lawn of the Lunney Museum. Cannon shared with us some of his thought about the loss of a close friend: “Dr. Martin was the kind of person who was a friend from the day you met him. If you were not a friend, it was your fault. He was such a kind and generous person.” Cannon remembers Martin’s dedication to the Lunney Museum, the S. 1st Street bungalow home located on what used to be referred to as Seneca’s Silk Stocking Hill. After Saturday’s ceremony, there will be a small gathering at a downtown restaurant for a champagne toast in Martin’s honor.
