Both Cater and Duncan will stay on

Westminster will not require a special election this fall to fill two council seats.  Two councilmen who declared their intent to leave after only one year of their terms have both decided they spoke in haste and they intend to remain part of their city’s six-member council.  Danny Duncan this morning said he agrees with Rusty Cater that their intention to quit comments August 25 amounted to a knee-jerk reaction.  Those comments came as the council debated nepotism rules to cover a third councilman, Reid Adams, because Adams’ wife, Jennifer, is the clerk-treasurer.  Duncan and others in Westminster leadership are hoping that what the Attorney General’s Office weighs-in on the subject will be a decider, so that the city can move on to tackle some of its pressing problems.
