Bluegrass festival moved to indoor event

Organizers of this month’s bluegrass music festival to benefit Southern Wesleyan University’s Jericho group home project are taking no chances with our fickle weather. The Jericho project will provide a new, learning environment that couple student mentors with special needs individuals. The Saturday, July 20 event originally planned outdoors at Southern Wesleyan at Central is being moved to an indoor location, to avoid the potential for rain to spoil the fundraiser. The festival, featuring Charles Wood and Little Roy and Lizzy and other performers will now take place July 20 at the Pickens County Performing Arts Center at 314 E. Main Street, Liberty. Doors will open at 12:30 that Saturday afternoon. 101.7/WGOG NEWS was made aware of this change this morning, so it’s important for us to try to get the word out about the venue change—especially since during yesterday’s ‘Community Soundoff’ it was stated that the event would take place on the Southern Wesleyan campus. A $20 dollar ticket entitles you to a barbecue lunch and an afternoon of bluegrass. Children 3 to 10 get in for $10 dollars. Under three years old, children are admitted at no charge.
