Blue Ridge goal most restoration by sundown

The spokesman for the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative says Blue Ridge’s goal is to restore power by sundown tonight to most of its remaining customers who’ve been without service since tropical storm Zeta powered its way into the five-county service area yesterday morning.  Shortly before 6 this morning, the number of Blue Ridge outages in Oconee had been reduced to 7,325.  Repair crews that worked overnight are to be replaced by about 450 personnel who will continue the work today. However, Blue Ridge attaches this cautionary warning.  A few of the outages in scattered locations could carry over into tomorrow.  A large number of Duke Energy customers in and around Walhalla have seen their power returned overnight.  They include businesses between the Scenic and Edwards car dealerships and the city limits.  Downtown businesses on the south side of Main Street that had no power most of yesterday are beginning to notice their lights came back on overnight.
