Blood products sent to southern Louisiana

One month after Ida made landfill in New Orleans, blood donations in southern Louisiana are still severely hindered.  That’s why Upstate South Carolina’s provider of blood for local and regional hospitals is supplementing the supply in Louisiana by sending products to the Blood Center of southern Louisiana.  Throughout the upstate and the rest of the country, blood donations remained down over the summer months and worsened by the latest surge of COVID-19.  Here, the Blood Connection goal is to collect more than 800 units of blood a day to sustain the needs.  In September, that goal was met on only three days.  The Blood Connection this Friday in Anderson will host an 11 am to 7 pm blood drive at the civic center.  Walk-ins are welcome, but donors are urged to make appointments.  Blood mobiles will set up the balloon launch site on Balloon Lane.
