Block parties to bring Walhallans together for the common good

Block parties are being planned this summer in Walhalla as gestures to create goodwill among city residents and to promote good causes.  Amy Welch and Lorelai Swanson, representing the city’s diversity and inclusion committee, filled in the mayor and council on the plans that call for the next block party to be an evening of fun Friday, June 25 at the city swimming pool. A recent successful COVID-19 clinic in Walhalla drew the approval of South Carolina DHEC and has encouraged the committee to especially make the vaccine available to local minority populations that include Latinos and African-Americans.  Other block parties in the works this summer are planned at the Chicopee ballfield and on Moore’s Avenue.
