Bids exceed funds available

The city administrator for Westminster, Kevin Bronson, promised the city fathers last night that going forward he and staff will better access state “C” funds with which the city can repair streets and sidewalks.  Last year the city was promised $200 thousand, but contractor bids exceeded $900 thousand.  Now Westminster can expect only as far as $200 thousand will take it in times of inflation and when contractors are busier than normal years.  It means a delay to fix Main Street and library sidewalks to meet the federal government’s ADA law.  Bronson said he and staff no know the process to qualify for disbursements from the county’s three-member state “C” Committee, chaired by Westminster resident Sammy Dickson.
