Betty Jean Harper Deaton

 

Westminster –Betty Jean Harper Deaton, 86, wife of Clyde William Deaton, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Prisma Health – Cottingham Hospice House.

 

Betty was born in Oconee County, SC and was the daughter of the late Henry Dilworth Harper and Jessie Lois Allen Harper.  Betty worked for Dunlop and Beacon Manufacturing and later retired from Argentum Medical in Salem.  Betty was a member of Westminster First Baptist Church and was an expert seamstress and enjoyed catering.

 

In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by son, Richard Deaton of Lowndesville; daughters, Judy Ann Riddle (Jimmy) of Spartanburg, Debra Ramey Smith (Delano) of Westminster, Vicky Ramey Holland (Mike) of Westminster and Tammy Prater (Raymond) of Seneca; sister, JoAnn Rogers of Seneca; grandchildren, Chad Riddle, Wendy Lufkin, Jason Smith, Austin Hunter, Tiffiney Love, Jeremy Holland, Brianna Keith, Justin Williams, Brook Smith and Ashlyn Deaton; and 13 great-grandchildren

 

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by brothers, Harold Harper, Richard Harper and infant brother, Horace Harper; sister, Jeanette Cantrell and infant sister, Mary Helen Harper.

 

A funeral service will be held, 11:00 am, Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park.  The family will receive family and friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home.
