“Avalanche” arrests now at 10

The arrests of two Seneca residents bring to 10 the number of arrests in “Operation Avalanche”—the effort by the Oconee Sheriff’s Office to stop the transport of methamphetamine into the county. Jerry Scott Gibson, 48, is charged with conspiracy to traffic in meth; Ricky Lee Addis Jr., 33, is charged with trafficking in meth. Meantime, the Sheriff’s Office continues to appeal for the public’s help in finding Amy Deanna Cobb, 30, and Mickey Edward Cox, 50. Capt. Ken Washington yesterday described Cobb as a “connection” to a sub group of the Mexican cartel in Atlanta. Search warrants last week helped county officers arrest five people and seize firearms, cash, and two pounds of narcotics. Three other people were arrested Thursday.
