Word from that accident on highway 11 near Walhalla is that one-lane of the two-lane roadway has been re-opened to traffic at the Bear Swamp Road crossing.  According to the fire department, there was no entrapment in any of the wreckage.

The state patrol reports part of SC 11 at E. Bear Swamp Road is blocked to traffic at this hour for an accident at what is an accident-prone intersection.

A day-long COVID-19 clinic Saturday in Walhalla attracted 63 people who rolled up their sleeves to receive the vaccine.  The clinic at the Light of the World Church was administered by team members from the initiative Healthy Me, Healthy SC.  Of the 63, there were 51 adults and 12 children.  Of the adults, seven were first-timers.

Two Prisma Health physicians started their comments this afternoon with increasing numbers of COVID-19 patients in the hospitals across the system—a system that includes Oconee Memorial.  And eight out of every ten in-patients have not been vaccinated.  Dr. Steve Shelton of Prisma Health in the Midlands said the system counted 438 COVID-19 patients.  That compares to 85 on December 1.  […]
