May 15-21 is Transportation Week, and Seneca has responded with a proclamation, as well as a few words from the mayor on the importance of free bus service in his city.  Seneca’s proclamation notes that Oconee’s largest municipality made history a few years ago when it became the first municipality to convert its gas-powered vehicles to electric vehicles.

Walhalla will spray for mosquitoes this season, starting the weekend which begins Friday, May 20, and continue a spraying schedule until October.  If you have a question or concern, dial 864-638-4351.

The percentage of city of Clemson commercial properties that sit empty was a question that arose during a “Conversations with Council” event last month.  The city provides the following answer:  By the 21st of February, Clemson saw 6.4% of its commercial buildings empty.  The last national average reported (April 20) was 15.9%.

A social event to bring people together in Westminster takes place at 6:30 tomorrow night at the Depot.  There’ll be light refreshments.  It’s called a “May Mingle”.  Community groups, organizations, churches, businesses are invited to mingle and to meet and greet.

The Methodists at St. Luke in Walhalla, on average, are giving away between 100 and 120 boxes of food every two weeks.  Another food giveaway is planned this afternoon, from 4:30 to 5:30, at the church on E. Main Street.
