State lawmakers and county council meet

At Seneca tonight, the Oconee state legislative delegation hosts its annual meeting with the Oconee County Council. The two groups meet jointly for the purpose of discussion of items that are mutually beneficial to Oconee County residents. The public may attend. The meeting begins at 5:30 at the Gignilliat Community Center.

Purpose behind lighting the fields

The grounds of the new Walhalla High School will be a brighter place Monday. The stadium lights will shine. Steve Hanvey, assistant superintendent for Oconee School District operations, says a requirement of the warranty is that the lights burn 50 hours, as part of their start-up. The new high school, still under construction, remains on schedule for opening this August.
