Bidding to build a roundabout

Contractors submitted bids last week to build Oconee County’s first roundabout—-a circular-type intersection which the state DOT has designed for Wells Highway and Strawberry Farm Road near Seneca.  Josh Makison, DOT resident construction engineer, says he expects to receive word in two weeks of the winning bidder for the project.

Computer and printer taken by shoplifters

A man and a woman are suspected of stealing a computer and a printer last weekend from the Seneca Wal-Mart.  Oconee Sheriff’s Office appeals to the public to provide the tip that solves the shoplifting case.  It took place around 10 o’clock Saturday night when, according to authorities, the man and woman concealed items and tried to leave the store.  […]

Oconee public schools recorded countywide attendance today at 10,240–the first day back from summer recess.  Total attendance at the new Walhalla High School at 987–fell 13 short of the figure of 1,000.  On day 1 last year it stood at 988.
