Water repairs continue today at W. North Avenue and Oak Street in Westminster.  According to the city, for customers in that area, today’s repair work will mean interruptions in service.

Part of SC 183–the Walhalla-Westminster Highway–is covered by ice this morning.  State troopers are reporting an accident at 183 and E. Bennett Road.  And one motorist tells us she encountered ice on the Coneross Creek bridge.

South highway 11 in front of Lake Hartwell State Park is an accident scene this morning in Oconee County.  And state troopers say there are injuries in the accident, reported shortly after 6:30 this morning.

Three municipal governing bodies see action tonight for their regular January meetings.  The councils for Seneca, Westminster, and West Union are meeting.  All three meetings take place at 6 o’clock at their town halls.  Westminster will welcome two new members:  Reid Adams and Jimmy Powell.

During Oconee General Sessions Court this morning, Jason Matthew Albertson pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine second offense and left the courtroom with an 18-month prison term, along with a warning from the judge. An accidental fire yesterday destroyed a Jet Ski and damaged a small wooded area near Walhalla.  The city fire department reported the fire off Picket Post Road.  The cause of the fire was attributed to a pile of hot stove ashes dumped outdoors.

After 36 years, Charles Dalton has retired as president/CEO of the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative.  In his place comes Jim Lovingood, whose tenure with the retail supplier of electric power in Upstate counties is practically as long as Dalton’s.  Lovingood’s goal is to keep Blue Ridge Electric on the cutting edge of technology.  In his message to customers, he said, […]
