The ballot can now be printed. The following candidates will make up ballot for the April 3 West Union election: for mayor, Linda Oliver; for the four council seats: Bethany James, Tommy Moore, David Scealf, and Kelly Weiser. No ready explanation for outage

No foul play is suspected, but there was no immediate explanation available for this morning’s electric power outage in Seneca.  Bob Faires, utilities superintendent, says an investigation is underway to determine the cause.  Seneca Light and Water is getting the assistance of Duke Energy, in Faires’ words, to try to understand what happened.  The outage lasted about 75 minutes.

Word from Seneca is that a widespread electric power outage that affected the area for more than one hour this morning has been solved, and service has been restored to customers.  The outage affected doctors offices and other businesses and several schools–the high school, the middle school, Blue Ridge Elementary, and Adult Education.

Traffic backup on 123

Motorists on 123 coming from Seneca across the Seneca River Bridge are experiencing a backup this morning.  The backup is believed caused by an earlier accident that damaged or took down electric power lines in the vicinity of the Bountyland Quik Stop.
