At their meeting tonight, Oconee school trustees receive an update on the modified school calendar for next year — the 2025-26 school year.  Next year’s school opening date, Tuesday, August 5 is five days later than this year’s August 1 opening.

On a move-in week for first-year Clemson students, the city of Clemson makes parking changes.  Starting today, the city’s public parking garages are metered — 8 am to 5 pm.  All meters take cash or card payments.  Street side parking, however, is not metered.  It is time-limited, a two-hour limit.

Incumbent Oconee school trustee Dr. Meaghan Ketterman has announced her platform, in her bid to win a new, four-year term.  She calls herself a commonsense conservative who opposes bureaucratic policies and educational indoctrination.  Here’s Ketterman’s list of what she stands for:  parental rights, safe and secure schools, fiscal transparency, improving educational standards, promoting transparency and reversing pandemic-related learning loss.

An attempt to burn a wasp nest spread fire to grass land, requiring a response Friday afternoon by the Corinth-Shiloh Fire Department.  The location was Longshore Avenue, a Lake Hartwell peninsula.
