Investigators say a boy who remained missing overnight near Seneca was found safe this morning in the Utica Community.  They found Tristan Freeman just after 10 this morning at an address on Goddard Avenue.  The 13-year old was the subject of a search after he walked away from the Collins Children’s Home in Bountyland.

The small Oconee County town of West Union turns 150 years old next month.  Mayor Linda Oliver says the special day will be Wednesday, February 26.  At their meeting tomorrow night, the mayor and council will discuss ideas for a sesquicentennial celebration.

After the Saturday night stormy weather, fire fighters near Seneca were sent to Newry to put out fire in an abandoned doublewide mobile home near Newry and Alexander roads.  The fire call was sounded around 1:30 in the morning.

A search and rescue was mobilized last night for a boy missing from the Collins Children’s Home near Seneca.  According to Sheriff Crenshaw, the boy remained missing overnight.

Oconee County was spared the kinds of damage that the Saturday night storms wreaked upon other parts of the South, but there was noticeable impact locally.  Trees fell and some Oconeeans lost electric power.  The storm temporarily took 101.7/WGOG off the air.  This morning we are still dealing with electrical problems caused by the disruption.

The Oconee County quarry director accepts the blame for a failure to communicate with customers that sparked complaints when the rock crusher went out of service this morning for three and a half hours.
