After a search warrant yesterday, two Seneca men were in custody in an Oconee Sheriff’s Office investigation that started last Friday after shots were fired from a vehicle at a home on Sirrine Street in Utica. An opening on the West Union police force will be filled Monday when Mayor Oliver swears in a new officer.  At 10 Monday morning at town hall, Brennan Ivey officially becomes a member of the West Union Police Department.  

Seneca’s Board of Architectural Review meets Monday to consider applications for three certificates of appropriateness.  Before the board will be project requests at the following locations:  119 N. Townville Street, 111 Ramcat Alley, and 217 Main Street.  The board hearings start at 6 Monday evening at city hall.

A truck driver was found dead yesterday morning at the Pilot Truck Stop off  Exit 160, I-85 in Franklin County, Georgia.  The driver identified as a 60-year-old Florida resident, Ally Miller.  Lake Hartwell WLHR Radio quotes the Franklin County coroner, Scott O’Barr, as saying there appears to be no foul play in Miller’s death.

“Dia del Nino” is the name for tomorrow’s children’s festival at Walhalla’s James Brown Elementary School.  The school on the Coffee Road invites all Oconee County children for three hours of free activities and treats for the whole family — such as inflatables, carnival games, and pinata.  There’ll be food for sale. The festival hours are 10 to 1.
