Audit opinion unmodified, no findings

By last June 30, the finish of another government year, there was no deficit in the Oconee School District finances, according to the 2020-21 audit presented last night to the Oconee school trustees.  The audit was offered by Don Estep of Stancil, Cooley, Estep and Stamey.  Gloria Moore, district finance director, said this morning the audit opinion was “an unmodified one-all clear, no findings.”  Moore says county tax collections were higher than expected and state revenues exceeded what was budgeted.  She provided the following numbers:  revenues were $104 million; expenditures, nearly $107 million; and, by June 30, the fund balance—the rainy day account of the district, was $22.5 million, about 21% of expenses.
