At least for now, no new senior home complex

Unless plans are re-worked, Seneca officials won’t make a zoning change that would allow as many as 76 units of senior housing near the 123 By-Pass. The developers sought the zoning change for 4.76 acres at Short Street and Mountain View Drive. The planning commissioners were told last night of plans for a three-story complex which only added to the worries of three members of the public who are also worried about increased traffic for a two-lane road that is used as a cut-thru by drivers avoiding the increasingly congested by-pass. The vote last night rejected the application to switch the zoning from highway commercial to RM-16. However, commission chairman Barry Duvall suggested to the applicants that they re-confer with city staff and make changes to their project that would lessen traffic concerns.
