Arrest made in case of alleged robbery in Utica

An Oconee County man was jailed Friday on multiple charges that arose from an alleged incident of armed robbery one week earlier in Utica.  During the early morning hours March 19, a man says he walked into a home on Humbert Street and was immediately became a hostage victim.  He says he was tied up, held at the point of a hatchet, and was forced into the backseat of a car and driven to Oakway, where he eventually gained his freedom when another vehicle appeared and spooked his kidnapper. At the wheel, he said, was a woman with a possible first name of Olivia. Charges against 29-year old Darion Deontre Wheeler include grand larceny, kidnapping, and armed robbery with a deadly weapon.  Wheeler was arrested by the Oconee Sheriff’’s Office.  According to the sheriff’s office, a second suspect, 21-year old Olivia Shante Brooks, was booked into the jail Thursday on the charge of accessory after the fact of a felony.
