Arrest in $10M Low State insurance fraud case

The state police arrested a lawyer, part of a prominent Low State family, and charged him with a September 4 incident in which he allegedly conspired with a second man to help him commit suicide to allow a beneficiary to collect life insurance.  The charges against Alex Murdaugh are insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, along with filing a false police report.  The “SLED” chief, Mark Keel, vowed:  “I can assure you that SLED agents will continue working to bring justice to anyone involved with any criminal act associated with these ongoing investigations. The arrests in this case are only the first step in that process.”
