Appeal made for five dismissed utility workers

The mayor and council in Seneca last night heard an appeal for five electric power linemen recently let go from the employ of Light and Water.  Retired Light and Water worker Gary Cobb said he has heard their side of what happened and believes that a full investigation is warranted.  Cobb further suggested a third party get involved.  The mayor and council thanked Cobb for his comments, but did not react to them before adjourning last night’s March meeting.  Previously, utilities superintendent Bob Faires declined public comment, saying it is a personnel matter.   Afterward, Cobb told 101.7/WGOG NEWS it’s his understanding that a safety violation is at the center of what was between the linemen and their employer.
