Anthony “Tony” Wayne Black

Walhalla, SC– Anthony “Tony” Wayne Black, 57, husband of Lynn Galbreath Black, of Walhalla, passed away on May 21, 2022 at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

 

A native of Oconee County, SC, Mr. Black was the son of the late Bunyan “June” Black, Jr. and Evelyn Haulbrook Black. He was a member of Golden Corner Church.

 

In addition to his wife and mama, Mr. Black is survived by his son: Jake Black (Courtney) of Salem, SC; daughter Ashley Watson (Jake) of Palmetto, GA; and grandchildren: June Watson, Abram Watson, and Dallas Black.

 

Tony was a talented musician and could play many instruments by ear. He played in the worship band at Golden Corner for many years, and spent many nights playing the banjo with Jake and his friends. He loved football and coached a group of boys for several years with John Galbreath and Keith Jones, that became sons to him. When he thought things couldn’t get better, he became a Papa. June, Abram and Dallas made him smile even when he felt his worse. He loved his grandbabies and sharing his love for the holidays, amusement parks, Bigfoot, and all things weird and scary.

 

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Golden Corner Church.

 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM- 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 25, 2022, prior to the service, at Golden Corner Church.
