An incremental re-opening for Walhalla

Walhalla makes this announcement this afternoon:  “The City of Walhalla is beginning to incrementally re-open more services to the public. The intent remains the same, minimize the risk of transmission and for the general well being of the public and city employees. City Hall- Business offices will be re-open to the public on June 1, 2020. Social distancing will be enforced, and customers may be asked to wait outside should the lobby reach capacity. All customers will be required to sanitize their hands before business transactions. Code Enforcement operations will resume June 1 as well. Until June 1, operations will continue as follows: Utility bill payments may be made online, at www.cityofwalhalla.com, by automated phone system, or in the City Hall drop box. There will be no service disconnects, non-payment fees charged, or late payment penalty for the month of April. Requests for new utility service, new water taps, or service discontinuance may be made via email [email protected]. All forms, with instructions, are available on the City’s website www.cityofwalhalla.com. For additional information, please call City Hall at (864) 638-4343. Business license applications can be taken over the phone and by email [email protected]. Parks and Recreation- All games and events have been suspended until June 1, 2020. This is following guidance from the Dixie Youth League. Walhalla City Gym, Walhalla City Pool, all basketball courts, volleyball courts, and all other recreational facilities will re-open on June 1. Sertoma Field and playgrounds re-opened May 15. There still will be no city sponsored events on the field or disc golf course. Social distancing should be adhered to. Law Enforcement- Police Department exterior door will re-open June 1, 2020. Until then, contact 864- 638-5831 for any assistance from Police. (screening questions will be asked to determine best course of action). All non-emergency incidents will be handled over the phone. In instances when there is close contact with an individual suspected of having COVID-19, officers will utilize the PPE kit. Close contact is defined as being within six feet of an individual with COVID-19 or suspected COVID-19. All emergency requests should dial 911. (screening questions will be asked to determine best course of action) Online payment for municipal fines with debit/credit card 1. go to website: www.cityofwalhalla.com 2. click on pay fine quick link (red and black box) 3. enter your ticket number that is found on the bottom of your ticket 4. follow instructions to enter credit/debit card information to pay fine Payment of municipal fines through telephone 1. call 1-844-507-3630 2. you must have your ticket number that is at the bottom of your ticket Once court re-opens on May 28, 2020 the only people allowed in the court room will be the prosecuting officer, defendant, victim, and lawyer. Social distancing will be enforced. Fire/Emergency Services- The Fire Department will still remain closed is to any non-essential personnel. Persons needing emergency assistance can dial 911 or ring the doorbell. Inspection services for businesses resumed May 18, 2020. Residential inspection services will resume June 1, 2020. The fire department is still working with Prisma Health to prioritize calls for service. Please let the emergency dispatcher know if you have any flu-like symptoms. Street/Sanitation- Street Department operations will continue as normal. Trash pickup will continue under normal schedule. Depot/St. John Meeting House- Normal operations will resume June 15, 2020. Our guidance is the same as DHEC and CDC. Wash your hands, wear a face covering, avoid touching your face, socially distance yourself, and if you are sick stay at home. If you have symptoms, call your health care provider for directions. Please follow the Governor’s Order of half capacity of facilities at this time.
