Allie “AT” Caywood

Westminster – Allie “AT” Thomas Caywood, 84, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.

 

Born in Ewing Kentucky, Allie was the son of the late George Ernest Caywood Sr. and Sadie Clark Caywood. AT was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict, he retired after 30 years of service with IBM as a senior engineer, where he was honored to receive 6 outstanding service awards which at the time of his retirement was the most ever presented, was instrumental in creating the IBM Credit Union for IBM employees. While living in North Carolina, AT served on the board for Mt. View Fire Department, member of the board for Flynn Christian Home, served as a volunteer firefighter and his greatest passion was the five years he volunteered as a narcotics officer. After moving to South Carolina, AT continued with his dedication and love for volunteering, he was a little league coach for 8 years, was a cub scout leader, served on the advisory board for salvation army, served as secretary for the Westminster Rotary Club, where he was the winner of the Paul Harris Fellow award,  served on the Oconee Military Museum, winner of caring for the Carolinas Community Service Hero award, served on the Westminster City Council, volunteered for Prisma Health as an outpatient greeter, and was the President of the board for the Westminster Senior Outreach which he founded alongside his beloved wife, Judy. His dedication and passion for the community will be an everlasting memory.

 

AT is survived by his loving wife, Judy Caywood; son, Marty Thomas Caywood (Jennifer) of Candler NC; daughter, Christy Sheriff (Brian) of Seneca; brother, David Clark Caywood of Lexington KY; sister, Charlotte “Sue” Caywood Rodes of Lexington KY; grandchildren, Ben Sheriff, Taylor Sheriff, Evan Caywood, Trent Caywood; great-grandchildren, Wynter Gray; special friends, Howard “Toby: Stockdale of Myrtle Beach, Richard Barry “Chip” Johnson of Statesville, North Carolina.

 

In addition to his parents, AT is preceded in death by his brother, George E Caywood Jr.

 

A memorial service will be held at 3:30, Saturday, August 19th, 2023 at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends and family from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home.
